Alone, Somewhat Lonely but Focused

Ran a tempo workout
Outside
In the dark
By myself
Pre-dawn

First time I'd run under those conditions
In a while

I used to write about solitude
Now I think more of loneliness than solitude

But
Being alone
Still allows
For a different level of concentration
Than running in a group

With a group
The burden of carrying myself for miles
Is lighter

Running alone
The burden is heavier
But I can concentrate on each step
As I try to learn to pace myself
And guide my running
Into
A faster future
